Sheer Randomness

Filed under: General, Life, Misc. — by gracieq @ 11:55 pm

I’ve kinda lost my mojo for writing/blogging for quite a while now. I was frustrated with a lot of things and unhappy about the career life, or lack of it, to the point where I was just not up for anything. Recently, I realised that I’ve been gradually spiralling down and as each day passes by, I get more and more demotivated.

After breaking down 2 nights ago in front of the bf, and allowing him to give me a pep talk so that I can feel better about myself, I’ve decided to gradually ease myself into blogging again. After all, blogging even on the most trivial of stuff has always been an outlet for me to express myself and de-stress. So, here I am, thinking of what to write as a comeback piece for the blog when it hit me! You know how everybody’s going crazy with the “25 random facts” of oneself on Facebook? Well, guess what? I’m going to write down another 25 random facts of myself here as a comeback piece! Genius, no? :P I do not need to think too hard on what to write and it’s a great way to start writing again!

Here it is, another 25 random facts about moi that were not up on Facebook.

  1. I love animes. I can spend hours in front of the tv or computer watching them. And they must be shown in their original audio – Japanese. I hate watching it when they’ve been dubbed to English or Bahasa. I prefer watching them in the original language and reading the subtitles instead.
  2. I hate rodents! The bf and some friends have had the privilege to see me jump and scream at the sight of them or turn into a statue because I was scared stiff. Of course, the memory of having a mouse running over my foot when I was brushing my teeth in the dark in my primary school years does not help the hatred and phobia.
  3. I prefer to cook than sew. I don’t mind staying in the kitchen for hours just to prepare a meal but to sit down and quietly do my sewing? Bleh!
  4. Sometimes, I display a little obsessive-compulsive behaviour. It appears when the right mood hits and the bf will find me fretting around the house, cleaning this and that up.
  5. I’m a geek/nerd. I love books, gadgets and like to find out about random stuff because they sound or look interesting. The bf and some friends have given me bewildered looks before when I started spewing some random fact on a certain thing/person that we’re discussing.
  6. I love to sleep. My personal record was sleeping straight for 18 hours!
  7. I hold an ITF Taekwon-do Black Belt 1st Dan. People usually do not believe it looking at my dressing and demeanour because they think I’m a girly girl. Plus, I’ve stopped training Taekwon-do since I finished Form 5.
  8. I used to love eating chocolate all the time. However, after tasting the yummilicious chocs when I was in Australia, the local produced chocolates just don’t feel right anymore. Talk about having expensive taste, eh! :P
  9. I love flowers, especially lilies. I used to get a lot of flowers from my then-bf when I was studying in Australia. The flowers have ceased to appear in my life since I came back to Malaysia. For some reason, people say I don’t look like the type to appreciate them. Well, looks can be deceiving, people!!!
  10. I love spas and massages but there are not many good ones around.
  11. I don’t mind eating food items that I used to hate i.e. celery these days while things that I used to like/love eating i.e. durian, I hate eating them now.
  12. One of my biggest pet peeves is how people can miraculously obtain a foreign accent when they’re talking to mat sallehs. Just be yourself lah for goodness sake! They are still able to understand you without the fake accent.
  13. I find a lot of radio channels annoying these days. The quality of the radio channels seem to have deterioated with the onslaught of new radio DJs. Can the DJs stop being more annoying than they are? Whatever happen to veterans such as Richard and Shaz, previously from Mix FM?
  14. I have close to 11GB of music/songs in my laptop. Yet, I’ve not listen to all of it yet. I didn’t even realise I have more than half the songs I did until I did some housekeeping in my iTunes.
  15. Cecilia Ahern is my favourite author of all times. I have every book that she has ever published except for P.S. I Love You. She’s incredibly talented and she’s only my age (or a year or two older)! I’m often amazed at how young she was to write such a heart wrenching book as P.S. I Love You.
  16. Sometimes (or many a times), I wish I was 5 again. I long for those carefree days where the biggest drama in life is why the boy you liked so much in kindergarten doesn’t want to play with you anymore. Not the adult world where work makes up at least half your life and you worry about practically everything to sustain yourself (or your family if you’re married). Funny, isn’t it? You can’t wait to grow up when you’re a kid and when you’re all grown up, you wish to be a kid again. Life!
  17. I have a love-hate relationship with my family. Then again, don’t we all?
  18. Nobody believed that I was an ugly kid. I looked like a boy as a toddler and when I was a teenager, boys never give me a second glance because my friends were all so pretty.
  19. I have birth marks all over my body, legs and hands. Nobody really knows why the birth marks are so widespread on me but I think my Mum seems to believe that I had them because of her. She was grieving and mourning over my Dad’s sudden death when she was 7 months pregnant and thinks that her sadness has channeled into me and manifested into birth marks.
  20. I do not know how to put on eye make-up properly. I’m pretty adept at putting on foundation, powder, eyeliner, etc. The only thing which I still fail when putting on paints on the fact are the eye make-up. I think I just have problems with the blending.
  21. I used to have a make-believe friend who’s named Emily. What to do? I was the only child and it didn’t help that I grew up in a Mandarin and Hokkien dominant speaking neighbourhood, so I always have problems conversing with the other kids. You know how kids shun other kids who does not know how to speak their language/dialects.
  22. I only learn how to speak Hokkien when I was 13 even though I’m born Hokkien. I have no problems understanding it, just have problems stringing proper sentences in it. Until I turn 13 and forced myself to speak Hokkien with friends and family.
  23. I love stationaries.
  24. Generally, people’s first impression of me is either I’m snobbish or I’m sweet. Those who thinks I’m snobbish will eventually find out that I’m not, I just look serious when I’m not smiling which makes people THINK I’m snobbish. Those who thinks I’m sweet will eventually find out that I can actually be quite loud and tomboyish.
  25. I’m trying to diet myself into a few lovely dresses. I’m making those dresses the motivation for me to go to the gym more diligently too.
